Note:
For this article, I’ve considered both ready-to-use AI voice assistants and AI solutions that help build custom voice assistants.

What Is An AI Voice Assistant, Exactly?
An AI voice assistant is a software system that handles conversations automatically without the need for human intervention. This system used natural language processing (NLP) and speech recognition to understand human conversations and respond in a human voice.
AI voice assistants are available for both consumer and business needs. At homes, they are used for daily tasks like internet search, remembering birthdays and anniversaries, and playing music.
On the other hand, AI-powered voice assistants used for businesses take care of call handling, and providing automated customer support. In most cases, these assistants are deployed in sales and support departments to lighten the workload and keep things running smoothly.
You can consider them as your non-human assistant that never sleeps, and takes care of things even in your absence.
Best AI Voice Assistants: What I Looked For
When researching and evaluating a long list of the best AI assistants for voice conversations, I considered the following factors:
- Customization : Can I customize the assistants as per my needs? Whether for personal use or work, does the assistant allow me to personalize its features?
- Data Control : Do I have control over my data when conversing with the assistant? Is it sure that the assistant does not use my data anywhere else externally or share with other third parties.
- Custom Security : Does this assistant allow me to add my own security layers so I feel secure conversing with it? I want the assistant to store my data locally and not anywhere else in the cloud.
- White-labeling : Can I customize the assistant with my business’ brand elements? I prefer to use the assistant customized to have conversations related to my brand, in a tone and voice our team prefers.
- Extensive Features & Support: Do these AI phone call assistants allow me to add features like call scheduling, routing, calendars and task managers? Can I add third-party party extensions and features that we use at work everyday? Will I get dedicated help from the vendor if I need help with the assistant?
This list has been my primary evaluation criteria along with several other factors like device compatibility, collaboration tools and ease of use.
My List Of The Best AI Voice Assistants [Ranked]
I tested multiple AI voice assistants myself, and here are the ones I found to be the best: MirrorFly, Siri, Apphitect, Alexa, Google Assistant, Otter.ai, Gemini, Samsung Bixby, Retell AI, and Speechfy.
1. MirrorFly: Best Custom AI Voice Assistant Solution
⭐ Rating: 4.7/5
I’ve used Siri, Alexa, Bixby and Gemini for voice assistance. However, I could not find an assistant that works particularly well for the unique needs of my business.
I picked MirrorFly – a custom AI voice agent solution for building my own assistant. I’m not an expert developer, yet using MirrorFly was not really difficult. All I had to do was get the solution, install the AI features, customize it to my needs and then go live.
Since MirrorFly supports white-labeling, I had the freedom to change any part of the code, add my logo, colors, and brand elements to build my voice assistant ‘Zola’. The team handed over the source code, and I had full control over my data. I added voice biometrics and multi-modal authentication as additional layers of security, and MirrorFly did not restrict these custom enhancements anytime.
Initially, I used their cloud deployment, where the support and maintenance was fair. In the next 6 months, my business opened up to our own servers. Fortunately, MirrorFly supports both on-premise and cloud hosting. I moved my assistant’s hosting to my servers and the transition was flawless without any downtime.
For my next project, I’m planning to hire MirrorFly’s own team to build another custom AI chatbot for a banking platform.
Personally, amongst agents with device and platform limitations, I feel MirrorFly as my first best AI voice assistant that helps build cutting edge voice agents just as I have in mind. That’s one big reason I’ve picked MirrorFly as my first best voice assistant solution.

2. Apphitect: Best White-label AI Voice Assistant Platform
⭐ Rating: 4.5/5
I’ve picked Apphitect as the second best AI voice assistant, as it is as good as MirrorFly for building custom AI voice assistants. Apphitect is a popular CPaaS solution that comes with custom APIs and SDKs to build communication platforms for web and mobile
As a part of its offerings, Apphitect provides 500+ AI-powered features that we can add to our voice assistant, as per our business needs. Likewise, I implemented my brand’s theme in the assistant and Apphitect did not restrict me on this. At the same time, it is not mandatory to use Apphitect’s logo in my assistant although I use its source code and features.
In addition to AI features, Apphitect offers real-time instant messaging, video calling, conferencing, voice calling, broadcasting, live streaming, activity feeds and contact centers. This means, we’ll be able to build full-fledged inbound and outbound phone call agents along with voice assistant ai, video assistants and chatbots.

3. Amazon Alexa: Best voice assistant for home
⭐ Rating: 4.5/5
I purchased Amazon Alexa a month ago. Honestly, the assistant has made life easier. It connects to almost all the smart devices at home and simplifies daily routines
Amazon claims that it can connect up to 140000 smart devices. This number is truly promising and it’s no doubt why Alexa has been entering millions of households within a short span of years.
However, using a smart device like Alexa for almost every chore in a day, lets it stay listening to us all the time. That brings a big question about our privacy. Would this AI personal assistant store or use my sensitive information and preferences? Maybe!
On the other hand, I had repeated my instructions twice or thrice sometimes. I checked if it is similar to other devices. But it looks like Alexa seems to be inconsistent in understanding commands and in processing information.
🎯 Standout Features of Amazon Alexa
- Voice-activated purchasing
- Smart home controls (lights, thermostats and cameras)
- Real-time call captioning
- Works with Amazon Music and Spotify
- Supports over 140000 smart devices
- Automation is very user-friendly
- Easily integrates with smart home systems
- Convenient for Amazon shoppers
- Privacy concerns as the device is always listening
- You may need to repeat prompts sometimes
- Customization is limited for enterprise use
4. Apple Siri: Best for Apple users
⭐Rating: 4.8/5
I use Siri on my iPhone and Mac. It is simply one of the technologies I cannot live without in recent years. Siri, being one of the first AI voice assistants, I’ve been using it for years for almost all hands-free assistance like setting anniversary reminders, meeting schedules and turning off my room lights.
One major drawback is – Siri cannot be called for help when I’m off my Apple devices. Otherwise, I find it the most helpful assistant, although its capabilities are limited when compared to its rivals Google Assistant and Gemini.
🎯 Standout Features of Siri
- Smart home device control
- Personalizes assistance with on-device intelligence
- Supports almost all Apple devices
- Remembers context & stores locally
- Shares data locally
- Excellent hands-free assistance
- Works with all Apple devices
- Occasionally inconsistent
- Limited to Apple devices
- Limited capabilities
5. Google Assistant: Best for Call assistance
⭐ Rating: 4.7/5
If you ask me for the best AI voice assistant that perfectly incorporates Natural Language Understanding, it’s Google Assistant, without a doubt. I claim it strongly as my experience conversing with it has been 9/10 times smooth and natural, like talking to a pal.
Just when I’m off my Apple devices, as I mentioned before, Google Assistant replaces Siri. I prefer using the AI especially for work. It understands complex queries, even if my command or information I provide is unclear.
But, I prefer not using the assistant for sensitive work conversations. It seems to collect and store personal data. This is quite a risk.
My advice is, use the assistant to upskill or learn new concepts, but limit or avoid sharing key information about your business or personal preferences. Google might use it for advertising.
🎯 Standout Features of Google Assistant
- Call screening
- Call predictions
- Integrates easily with Google services
- Understands contextual requests
- Strong search capability
- Converses like a human
- Smooth search
- Excellent device compatibility
- Data privacy concerns
- Occasionally slower
- Limited Samsung-specific features
6. Otter AI: Best for meetings & note-taking
⭐ Rating: 4.6/5
My work highly depends on taking notes about technology and writing about it. An idea would occur while on a walk when I’m travelling. A notebook may not always be handy. That’s where Otter helped me.
I first tried this AI meeting assistant’s free trial. The experience on these 7 days was great and I could not stop myself from subscribing to it (which I felt was a bit expensive, but worth it.)
For over 5 months, its automatic meeting agent, OtterPilot has been taking my meeting notes on my Zoom calls and Google Meets, gives me the summaries and turns my action items into actual schedules.
One feeble downside I noticed is – Otter misses out a few accents in calls involving multiple international accents. Also, it struggles when there are cross-talks in a group discussion.
🎯 Standout Features of Otter AI
- AI-powered transcription
- Auto-joins scheduled calls
- Speaker identification
- Automated summaries
- Follow-up emails
- Accurate transcription
- End-to-end note-taking automation
- Free live transcription
- Challenges with accents & punctuation
- Upload limitations
- High subscription cost
7. Gemini: Best for research
⭐ Rating: 4.5/5
Gemini caught my eye 8 months ago. I slowly transitioned from Google assistant to its sophisticated successor, Gemini, with its excellent research capabilities.
Google assistant is great, but when it comes to getting deep down into citations and bringing key information about concepts in a clearly structured manner.
However, the AI checked a few of its responses twice before rendering. Conversely, it hallucinated few of its responses. In doubt, I had to recheck the response from other sources. Unfortunately, the data mismatched.
Coupled with this downside, you’ll feel Gemini is slower than Google Assistant. When you give a voice command to the assistant, Gemini takes a few seconds to research and respond. But Google Assistant replies instantly.
🎯 Standout Features of Gemini
- Deeper understanding and reasoning
- Multi-modal inputs
- Document summarization
- Coding assistance
- Creative content generation
- Advanced language understanding
- Research and reasoning
- Double-check for accuracy
- Hallucination
- Slower than Google Assistant
- Limited third-party integration
8. Samsung Bixby: Best for Samsung users
⭐ Rating: 4.2/5
I tried Bixby on a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. It worked perfectly with a deep voice control. Curious to understand how it works with appliances, I connected to Bespoke AI Windfree AC and Bespoke AI Washer. It was spot on and a great add on to Samsung users.
Remember, Bixby works only with Samsung devices. If most of your appliances and devices are Samsung, Bixby could be a great add-on to automate things around you.
However, if you’ve got a mix of all brands, I’d recommend you to skip this assistant.
🎯 Standout Features of Bixby
- Quick commands
- Omnichannel interactions
- Language translation
- Intelligent assistance
- Integrates with Samsung SmartThings
- Handles complex commands
- Device-specific response
- Quick commands for automated tasks
- Only available for Samsung devices
- Less advanced
- Limited language support
9. Retell AI: Best for DIY assistants
⭐ Rating: 4.1/5
Retell AI is not a ready-to-use voice assistant like Alexa or Gemini. It is a builder you can use to develop your own custom AI voice assistant for enterprises and consumer needs.
If you’ve been around coding, and can play with AI, Retell can be a great companion in getting things done quickly and efficiently. It comes with pre-built solutions to build a fully functional AI phone call agent for small to large-scale call operations.
🎯 Standout Features of Retell
- Visual agent builder
- Auto-sync knowledge base
- HIPAA compliance
- Documentation import
- Builder for custom AI agent
- Task automation
- HIPAA compliance
- Limited integrations
- Complex for non-techies
10. Speechify: Best for text-to-speech conversion
⭐ Rating: 3.9/5
I see Speechify as a tremendously helpful tool for content creators. I used Speechify to create voice overs for my organization’s marketing materials. If you have a script ready, feed it into the tool, select the voice and generate a natural-sounding voice over for your videos.
I tried voice-overs in English and French. The pronunciation was correct and clear. I only had to make a few adjustments to the tone and speed, but these advanced features are only available in the paid version.
🎯 Standout Features of Speechify
- 200+ natural-sounding human voices
- Supports 60+ languages
- Supports listening at 5x speed
- Premium feature set
- HQ voice output
- Useful for content creation
- Limitations in free tier
- Paid subscription required
My Final Recommendation
This has been an exciting process – picking the latest and most critically acclaimed voice assistants and testing them in and out.
PERSONALLY – I observed the following in each AI voice assistant
- MirrorFly and Apphitect stands out from all of the other assistants by offering a completely customizable solution for building our own agents.
- Alexa, Siri and Bixby work well for consumer requirements like smart home controls and daily assistance.
- Otter is great for taking notes and Speechify helps create voice content out of a text input and AI meeting assistant, while Gemini and Google Assistant are great for research.
On the whole, I’ll call MirrorFly as my winner for the best AI voice assistant list here for its extent of customization and freedom to build our own assistants without any limitations.
